Prepare to be awestruck in a box truck! This is my 2016 Sprinter 3500 dually. I converted it into a home on wheels and my wife and I travelled the country for past two years. I am now going through a divorce. I love love love this van and would absolutely not be selling otherwise.

It is a very thoughtful build geared toward van life. I took some serious time and effort and built something I am super proud of and every part of it has been dead reliable. Nothing has broken. I mean it nothing.

The vehicle started out as a delivery vehicle with a roll up back door. The box is full aluminum. I removed the back door and braced the back with a custom steel beam that a rear swing up aluminum insulated door hangs from. This is where you access the massive cargo area. We had two bikes, two paddle boards, a surf board, RC cars, power tools, extra clothes, pantry, tons of camping gear all in the back. Friends would always comment, “you guys have everything in your van!”

Now you might be thinking, “why a box truck?” While they may not be the sleekest looking rigs there are some distinct advantages… space obviously but camouflage is a huge bonus. They blend in and nobody bats an eye. We spent 4 months in busy Southern California minutes from the beach with no problems. No rent, no paying for camp sites. Completely free. People see it and think it’s just a work truck.

The whole van is insulated with top tier foam board insulation. It stays pretty cool on hot days and warm on cold days. The van walls are mostly framed with aluminum studs so it is incredibly strong. Then there is tongue and groove walls. Beautiful wooden ceiling features. All the wood in this build was painstakingly stained and coated with multiple coats polyurethane ensuring that it will last a long time and look beautiful for years.

No expense was spared in the build. It is an all electric build with 400ah of lithium batteries, 600w of solar charging and alternator charging. We rarely had issues with the batteries getting low even though the Induction plate and microwave/oven/air fryer run all electric and my wife baked cakes, cinnamon rolls you name it in here.

Notable Features:
King sized Purple Mattress With custom headboard and projector cubby
A huge Dometic 110l fridge on a 500lb slide so it doubles as seating.
A Dometic porcelain toilet
Incredible Espar D2 Diesel heater with automatic altitude adjustment.
70 gallon fresh water tank
35 gallon black water tank
Indoor and outdoor shower
Tons of storage in the benches, cabinets and headboard.
Maxxair fans in main living area and in bathroom
Sea grade sunroof over the bed that opens and allows you to climb on roof to soak up the sun. We’d read for hours on the roof.
50amp Renogy MPPT charger that automatically adjusts between alternator and solar charging. It will even charge the vans battery if the house batteries are full.

This was a labor of love and I am so sad to see it go. It feels like a tiny cabin in the mountains everywhere we’d go. With the huge fridge, water tank, and all the storage if we were thoughtful with water use we could easily go 2.5 weeks without needing to return to civilization.

The Van never gave us any trouble and I always performed regular maintenance on time or early. It has been a reliable friend that we have always shown love. Currently the vehicle has 125,000 miles. If you know anything about the Sprinter with the 3.0L turbo diesel you know these things go for 500,000 miles easy so it’s just getting started.

Recent work to the Van:
Tires purchased at discount tire with road hazard in the last year.
New Bilstien shocks all around
Sumo Springs on all four corners
New brake pads and brake system flush
New high clearance heavy duty rear bumper
New Sony head unit with CarPlay

This is something that is truly special. It’s a van that is truly unique and a comfortable, cozy and homey place to stay. I’m really proud of the work I put into it. Please watch the video tour on YouTube. I am open to reasonable offers.
